Higher Education in the United States

U.S. Academic Culture

Education in the United States tends to be primarily learner-centered. It is students’ responsibility to participate in class, complete required coursework, engage with their classmates, and communicate with their professors about any questions or concerns they have during class or office hours. Depending on a student’s major and minors, there are different course requirements for graduation. It is up to each student to work with their advisor and understand what they need to do in order to complete their chosen program of study. Students agree to practice academic integrity and follow their university’s code of conduct throughout their study.
